11 Annual Stitch ‘N Quilt Retreat 2016
October 18-20, 2016
Twenty eight quilters from around the province came together for three days of quilting instruction, sharing of ideas and sharing their expertise with new quilters at the 11th Annual STS Stitch ‘N Quilt Retreat, hosted by the Swift Current Chapter. The venue was the Days Inn motel here in Swift Current, and the food was provided by Smiley’s Kitchen and Catering Service. The date was October 18-20, 2016.
Quilters registered on Tuesday morning with half day classes scheduled for the afternoon. Everyone received a welcome bag with information about Swift Current, quilting patterns and a few goodies. Sheila Pool put together a quilter’s survival kit and had quilted a Kleenex pouch for everyone. Tuesday after classes a banquet was held, with a Trunk Show provided by Heather Grover from Moose Jaw.
Wednesday held full day classes with a visit to the Sowen Quilt Shop after. Brenda Taylor provided everyone with a 20% discount coupon.
Thursday held full day classes as well.
The quilters brought their own sewing machines and cutting boards. The Committee provided the irons and ironing boards. The venue was exceptional with a large room for large class instruction as well and 2 smaller rooms for smaller class instruction. Space as also provided for those who opted to work on their own projects. Rooms were available till 10:00 pm, for the quilters who wanted to work late on their projects.
The committee was made up of Joyce Hoffman, Clara Loeppky, Rosalie Flynn and Sheila Pool.
It was with reluctant hearts we said good-bye to all our friends. We wished them safe travels until we meet them again.
The next Provincial Stitch ‘N Quilt Retreat will be held in North Battleford on October 17-19,2017.
